Kia ora tatou, nau mai haere mai. Welcome to Pikao Press, where plants, places and people are the heroes. I started this blog many years ago and for a variety of reasons life has gotten in the way of keeping it updated and moving onwards with new content. However, I found that I missed the opportunity to reach a wider audience and spend time writing and researching some of the material I have added here. Its not rocket science, or even earth-shattering writing, but an outlet for things and issues that that interest me. I’m interested in the history of communities, the alterations and changes to their landscapes and the negative and positive effects on them.

It’s also about a personal journey of exploration and recording the things that I see, the people I meet and some of the remarkable places I’ve been privileged to visit. As a vehicle where I can voice some of the opinions and research I’ve done on a range of issues I have seen in my time as a community leader. Remember, its my opinion and its not a marker in the sand for what is right or wrong, but an observation of the world as it appears to me.
